From Blonde to Brunette: making a dramatic hair change

So this week I took the plunge and booked a hair appointment here in Montreal (at the very lovely Salon Helmet) and took my hair hella’ darker.
This isn’t the first time I’ve changed my hair dramatically. Since the age of 13 I’ve been colouring my hair, starting off with subtle highlights (it’s all my mother would let me get) and slowly but surely maturing to all over colour changes. I’ve had raspberry red strips in my hair, blonde highlights, dark brown with a purple tinge (not one of my best looks), ombré, balayage.
I don’t know what it is, but I just love being experimental with my hair. However nowadays I know what looks work for me and while I do like being blonde I just wasn’t happy with my hair the way it was. It was a bit too warm toned at the top and I like having a good bit of dark roots with blonde hair but with this shade it just didn’t really work. So I decided to get my hair coloured brown again.
This colour is rather dark but that’s because there was so much bleach in my hair that this will fade fast so I had to go as dark as I could to prolong it. In these pictures it looks almost a bit red, but trust me it isn’t in real life. It’s just a golden, dark brown. And I love it.
My boyfriend may think that I look like a completely different person, but I really like experimenting and changing up my look every now and then. However I am planning on keeping my hair brunette for the foreseeable future and hopefully when my hair gets longer (if it ever will..) I want to get some balayage done with a lighter brown colour. Always thinking of the next step…

Let me know what you think of my new hair and if you’re thinking of making a big change with your hair in the comments!
