My Simple Summer Skincare Routine.

summer skincare routine - simple, quick & easy

I’m gonna let y’all in on a secret. I am really bad at remembering to do my skincare routine. There you go, I said it. As much as I love skincare products, I find myself to be a bit lazy when it comes to beauty routines. Therefore in order to combat this, I decided to really simplify my routine to make it as quick and easy as possible. So today I thought I’d show you what’s in my summer skincare lineup.

I keep things pretty minimal now when it comes to the number of products I use – I tend to keep to a cleanser, toner, serum and moisturiser both evening and night. Occasionally (read: when I have time/motivation) I’ll use a sheet mask or an exfoliating toner as a treatment. But today I thought I’d talk about the core products I’ve been using the most.

Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel

This is actually an old favourite that I rediscovered when shopping in the Duty Free on my way to the Maldives. It’s a gel that you rub into dry skin, then you wet your hands and massage into the gel to turn it into a really lovely-feeling milk. I find this so gentle on my skin and also so damn quick to use!

It leaves my skin feeling clean, but also soft and glowy. Honestly, I have no idea why I stopped using it! While I am still a big fan of my Pixi x Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse (review here), this Clarins one is much more suitable for a morning cleanse and to be perfectly honest, I’m just using the same things in the evenings to keep it simple for me. I’ve been travelling a lot and most of my things are packed up for moving to London in a few weeks time, so I’m keeping things as streamlined as possible!

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Miracle Hydrating Mist

Now this stuff is just lovely. I’m a huge fan of the 8 hour range and so when I seen they had a hydrating mist out I had to try it. It has the most beautiful but delicate scent and just feels so fresh on the skin.

Now, this isn’t a replacement for an exfoliating toner treatment or anything like that but it just adds a bit more moisture and hydration after cleansing. I’m not really a big fan of using a traditional toner solution on a cotton pad all over the face, I find it makes my skin feel a bit tight. So I like just using a few sprays of this and allowing it to sink into the skin.

Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Bi-Phase Serum & Gel Sorbet

I was so excited to try this range when I seen it was launched. Hydration is definitely one of my main skin concerns, as I have combination skin and can often get dry patches as well as oily ones. I’m also just a huge fan of Clarins as a skincare brand in general, I’ve not been disappointed by any of their products.

The serum is very light and sinks into the skin quickly. It’s bi-phase, so you have to shake it up a bit before use, but unlike others I’ve used before it doesn’t feel too oily and not sticky at all. The gel moisturiser I bought because I like using a lighter formula in the summer, especially in the mornings. This stuff feels so lovely and light on the skin but also so hydrating, so I don’t feel like I have to use anything heavier in the evenings.
