October Goals.

October goals - my plans and aims for this month
October goals - my plans and aims for this month

Well, hello October! I for one could not be happier that we are now well into Autumn and (in my opinion) one of the best months of the year. So I’m going to be sharing with you my October goals, as I do every month!

I am honestly so excited for the month ahead – October is normally my 2nd favourite month of the year (after December, duh.). I can’t wait to see all the leaves changing colour, for the air to get cooler and the nights to get darker/cosier!

Make time for self-care

This is my main goal for October. I’ve been really busy since I moved to London and whenever I do actually have spare time I’ve been spending it working on this blog and my YouTube channel. I know that Sartorial Scot isn’t my real job, but I like to act like it is because otherwise things will start to slip around here and I don’t want that to happen.

However, I’ve been working so hard that I’ve not allowed myself any downtime whatsoever really. I’m feeling quite burnt out and stressed, which just isn’t ideal because living in London in general makes me feel stressed enough! So I’m aiming to cut back a little bit, be more organised with my time and just allow myself to relax a bit more.

Work on a positive mindset

This is another goal that I’m really focusing on this month. I’ve been feeling quite down since moving to London – between stress, money worries, adjusting to the lifestyle and homesickness. I also had my phone snatched from me on the street this week, which just added to all this negativity and has made me feel quite uncomfortable walking around on the streets here, if I’m being honest.

The combination of all these things has made me quite miserable recently and I just don’t think I can cope with another month of it. So I’m going to work on having a more positive mindset – focusing on the good things in life, not all of the bad. I’m also going to try and do things that make me feel uplifted when I’m having a bad day – like reading a book, listening to music, watching Gilmore Girls, treating myself to a Starbucks. I feel like that seems like such an obvious thing to do, but sometimes when you feel down you end up just wallowing in it, rather than trying to do anything about it (I do anyway…). Let me know if you’ve had any similar experiences and if you have any tips on how to make yourself feel better!

Get outside

I’d really like to spend more time in the outdoors this month. Of course, living in London means that I am somewhat limited in what I can do (no climbing hills or forest trails around here..) but I’d like to go out for more walks, visit parks and really just take in all the glorious Autumnal weather.

One thing I really miss about Glasgow is how close you are to nature at all times – you can be at beautiful national parks like Loch Lomond in 30 mins. I grew up in the countryside, so I do miss the fresh air and sense of calm that being out in the sticks gives you. But, linked to my previous point of having a positive mindset, you have to make do with what you’ve got. So I am determined to stroll round as many of London’s parks as possible this month!

Get back into the gym

I feel like this is a goal that is always on my list, but this month I really do mean to get back into the gym. I’ve joined a new gym that is much closer to my flat and has way better facilities (albeit for a hugely inflated price) so it’s going to be much easier for me to get to the gym in the morning before work.

My plans are to try and fit in 2-3 gym sessions a week, split between classes and general workouts. Eventually I’d like to increase this, but for the moment I think that is more than enough (especially since I haven’t been for months!). I always feel so good after I work out, so I think it will help to improve my mood in the mornings when I have to go to work!

So those were my October goals! As I said, I am really looking forward to this month and all of the Autumnal activities that come with it. I’m also really looking forward to all of the beautiful Autumnal imagery that I’m sure to see on Instagram/blogs over this month – isn’t October just the best for blog content?!

Let me know what your goals are for the month and what you’re most looking forward to doing!
