June Goals 2018.

Hello June! After what seemed like the fastest May ever, we are now well and truly into Summer. So, of course, with a new month comes new goals – and I am actually very excited about the month of June.

May was an absolute whirlwind, because for the majority of it I was preparing for job interviews and then eventually accepting an offer on a new job! Which is very exciting, but terrifying in equal measure. I am moving on from the wine industry and entering the world of publishing, in a Digital Marketing Executive role. So there’s a lot of big changes coming up this month!

To be completely honest, the past few months have been a bit difficult for me and now, finally, I’m getting back to feeling like myself again. So I have high hopes for the month of June! This is what I have planned…

Get settled in my new job

So this is definitely my biggest goal of the month. I start my new job in mid-June and from then on I’m going to be focusing on settling into my new routine and getting to know the people I work with. It’s obviously a bit nerve-wracking, but I’m excited to move onto something new.

While I’m excited to go onto bigger and better things, there is a part of me that is sad to leave my old job behind. It’s all I’ve known since moving to London, so it’s going to be weird not travelling to Primrose Hill every day. However, I probably won’t miss being on the Piccadilly line in the height of London summer!

Health and fitness

I really want to push myself when it comes to eating and exercising this month. I know this is a bit of a taboo topic nowadays but I’ve been trying to lose some weight recently. I put on a lot of weight after a skiing accident and subsequent knee surgery 2 years ago and since then it just hasn’t come off, so I feel like now I need a more focused plan if I actually want to lose anything.

As for exercising, I just need some motivation. I’ve been so bad at going to the gym for basically the past year and I need to do something about it! I’m thinking of maybe purchasing Carly Rowena’s Get Gorgeous Guide so that I have some sort of a plan for what I do at the gym – has anyone else tried it?

I’ve also downloaded the Couch to 5k app, so that I can try to get back into running again. I’ve never been a good runner – flat feet and bad knees don’t exactly make me a great candidate! But a few years ago I got into running outside and I did actually really enjoy it. So I’m going to give it a try and see how I get on.

Would anyone be interested in hearing about my health/fitness/weight loss journey? I want to ask because I find these subjects can be quite sensitive (especially weight loss) and I want to be careful about how I approach it.

Say yes to everything

This is actually something I’ve been challenging myself to do for the past month as well, but I’d like to continue it into June. Whenever I’ve had the opportunity to go to events or seen tickets for anything where I could potentially meet people (like live podcasts, panel events etc) I’ve been signing myself up without hesitation.

For my first year in London I feel like I’ve missed out on a lot because I’ve been nervous to go to things alone or I’ve made excuses that I’m too tired after work. But now, I realise that I’ve got to work a bit harder if I actually want to meet people and just have fun in general in this city!

In May I got to meet so many people because of this little rule, so I’m happy with my progress so far. I’m not going to lie – it’s quite terrifying turning up to things alone and being that girl who has to approach people and introduce yourself. But I’m approaching it like I’ve got nothing to lose, I’ve got to put myself out there if I want to make friends. It’s almost like dating, it’s crazy!

Launch a newsletter

Ok, ok – I know everyone seems to have a newsletter these days. But I’ve been toying with the idea for a while and now I feel like I’ve got a good idea of what I want to do. My day job involves a lot of e-marketing, so it feels so natural to me to do a newsletter and I just want to give it a try.

I’ll be revealing all the details next week, so keep your eyes peeled! In the meantime, in the spirit of market research, I’d love to know what makes you sign up to a newsletter. What content do you like to receive via email?

So those are all of my goals for the month of June! As I said, I’m really excited about this month and I’m ready to leave a lot of shit behind me and move forward.

I’d love to hear what you have planned for the month – whether it’s travel plans, your goals or just what you’re getting up to! I wanted to say as well that I’m always around on Twitter and Instagram if you ever fancy a chat.
